The Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary was the vision of the late Dr. G. Albert Brown, who, more than forty years ago, sought to educate those who desired to know the Bible. His conviction that most Christians fail to study God's Word, or have a limited knowledge of it, was the beginning of what is now a school designed for lay people who want to know more about the Bible, or for those who feel the call of God to dedicate their lives to full time Christian service.
On September 2, 1969, the State Corporation Commission granted a charter to the Fredericksburg Bible Institute. "Seminary" has since been added to the State Charter.
Conferral of Degrees
According to the code of Virginia, Section 23-266 A-2, action was taken by the Council of Higher Education on February 3, 1982 to qualify this Institute to confer degrees and to allow all past graduates to upgrade their diplomas to degrees retroactive to April 1976. Our curriculum is theological, and we use the names "Institute" and "Seminary" only.
Tax Deductible Status
The Internal Revenue Service granted the Institute tax exemption in 1970, and all contributions are deductible. The state has also granted the Institute tax deductible textbook sales.
